Overview

Release
Sonic Adventure is the sixth game in the Sonic Team's 'Sonic the Hedgehog' series, after 'Sonic 3D Blast' (First 3D sonic game). The game was originally released on the Dreamcast in 1998 (1999 AUS), but was later ported to the Nintendo GameCube in 2003 and Microsoft Windows in 2004. In 2010, it was released on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and Steam.

General Story
The story takes place on an island that connects to a city, Station Square, and presents us with the adventures of the protagonist Sonic the Hedgehog. We also see the supporting antogonist in the pre-title cutscene, Chaos, but before playing through the story we are lead to believe that the city is just dangerously flooding. Chaos is unleashed by the known villain, Dr. Eggman (Dr. Ivo Robotnik), who plots to take over the city by using Chaos. However, Eggman's plan requires the seven chaos emeralds to power Chaos. Meanwhile, Sonic and friends embark on an Adventure with different point-of-views that are still related to the main story: Sonic and Tails try to stop Eggman, Amy assists along the way; Knuckles tries to restore the Master Emerald; Big the Cat searches for his friend Froggy; and E-102 Gamma is one of eggman's robots that has morals in which it disobeys eggman and helps Sonic.

Further Information
This was the second Sonic the Hedgehog game to use three dimensional graphics. The graphics of this game was a big step up from the previous game in the series as it presented on more realistic environment instead of computer-generated textures over wireframes. Along with that, the game presents us with a movie-like storyline featuring voice-actors and a rocking soundtrack. 2.5 million copies later, it became the best-selling Dreamcast game and a sequel was released in 2001 (2002 AUS) for both the Dreamcast and the Nintendo GameCube.
