Release
The sixteenth Sonic the Hedgehog game to be released on a handheld console had a silent release in Australia (in comparison to other Nintendo games) although being the first game in SEGA's exclusive console partnership with Nintendo. This game was released for both the WiiU and the Nintendo 3DS on 19 October 2013. The 3DS version has the capability to interact with the WiiU by 'beaming' over items from Tails's Workshop. The game also utilises the capabilities of the 3DS such as stereoscopic 3D (although lossy CG cutscenes) and the gyroscope (in Special Stages).
